Biography
Tim Plester (Timothy Marc Plester) – British actor, playwright, and filmmaker, born 10 September 1970 in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. Graduated from Dartington College of Arts with a BA in Theatre, then obtained an MA (Hons) in Playwriting Studies from Birmingham University. Winner of the 1992/93 National Student Playwright of the Year award. A self-styled "folknographer" interested in roots music and vernacular customs, he co-directed the award-winning documentaries Way of the Morris (2011, premiered at SXSW), The Ballad of Shirley Collins (2017, BFI London Film Festival), and Southern Journey (Revisited) (2020, Sheffield Doc/Fest). His most notable film roles include Danil in Kick-Ass (2010), Mace in Lockout (2012), Dumi in Closer to the Moon (2014), Mickey in Cuban Fury (2014), Robbie in 55 Steps (2017), Roy Thomas Baker in Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), Leon in A Christmas Gift from Bob (2020), and Ezequiel in Undergods (2020). He also appeared in Control (2007), It's All Gone Pete Tong (2004), Shifty (2008), The Little Stranger (2018), and American Sweatshop (2025). On television he is best known for Black Walder Rivers in Game of Thrones (2013–2016, 6 episodes), Julian in After Life (2019–2022, 5 episodes), Wolsey in Wolf Hall (2015, 4 episodes) and its sequel (2024), Martin Webster in Moonflower Murders (2024, 3 episodes), Clarty in Worzel Gummidge (2019–2021, 8 episodes), Per Haskell in Shadow and Bone (2021–2023), and Fay Drolla in Andor (2025). He has also appeared in Doctor Who, Life on Mars, Hustle, Taboo, Britannia, and Galavant.
